If they had more reasonable prices they would be 5 star. Excellent sandwich shop. Some of the best sandwiches ever. Even the vegetarian sandwich is 5 star. Anyplace else and I would deduct stars for no meat. You can also call in orders in advance. Really saves time but weekends usually mean waits , sometimes long.
Bakery has great pastries and breads but breads cost about twice as much as in the stores. At least the breads are twice as tasty. Service is a little slow and understaffed at times. Best days to go are Thursday or Friday and the earlier the better. They run out of the good stuff later in the day

Original bakery of the famous bread. The food and bread is really good. If you are driving to Julian from Ramona you should stop here on your way back. You want to eat some food in Julian or just get a pie to go but, if you can't wait or are still hungry this is the best place to eat. The sun dried tomato bread is really good, olive bread, and if you are making burgers their rosemary rolls are an amazing combination. The drive and surrounding area is beautiful. The inside however is very much like it was when they started so the atmosphere is like taking a trip back in time.
